TECH NEWS – Microsoft used a surprising comparison when their upcoming game streaming service was mentioned…
Business Insider published the transcript of a conference where Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, also talked. He said that he imagines the xCloud as if it was Netflix, but instead of streaming movies and series, it would provide games. You wouldn’t need a several-hundred-dollar console to play, as you’d be perfectly fine with a laptop, a smartphone, or a tablet (if you have a decent-speed Internet connection).
With this thought, Microsoft is heading to a monthly subscription system with xCloud (which is reasonable: Sony’s PlayStation Now follows this formula, too), which can also be said about the gaming industry in general, as aside from Sony and Microsoft, Google (Project Stream), Electronic Arts (Project Atlas), and rumours say that Amazon as well are heading towards streaming.
We have yet to see when the xCloud service starts, though.
