The United Kingdom can be a good sign to show how the four major games from last week (Far Cry: New Dawn, Metro Exodus, Jump Force, Crackdown 3) could fare in physical sales.
Far Cry: New Dawn has launched in the first place, but the spin-off (as it is a direct sequel to Far Cry 5) sold 86% less physical copies than Far Cry 5 last year. 60% of the sales were for PlayStation 4, 39% for Xbox One, and the measly one per cent was on PC. Metro Exodus sold only two thousand copies less in second place, and it’s a significant surprise to see that compared to the previous game, Metro Last Light in 2013, it sold more (+50%!), which is amazing, seeing how there is a trend towards digital sales (PlayStation Store, Xbox/Microsoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, etc…) nowadays. 57% of the sales were for the PlayStation 4.
Jump Force claimed fourth place, and Red Dead Redemption took the third place last week, and the rest of the top ten are from last week’s charts (FIFA 19, Resident Evil 2 Remake, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Kingdom Hearts III, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII). Where’s Crackdown 3?
Well, the Xbox One/Windows 10 game that launched last week only reached 13th place (!), selling just 1/10 of Crackdown 2’s (Xbox 360) launch week copies! However, the Xbox Game Pass subscription might play a role here, which allows access to all major Xbox-exclusives for a cheap monthly subscription…
