Kingdom Hearts III‘s base version isn’t that difficult – perhaps Square Enix wants to get this issue fixed as well.
Dengeki Online, a Japanese publication, interviewed Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts III, who is likely focusing on Final Fantasy VII Remake by this point. We learned that the first sales information has far surpassed his expectations, and Critical Mode, which was part of the Final Mix (expanded) re-release of the previous Kingdom Hearts games, will also be part of an update. They will try to refine the game to provide fun even on this harder difficulty level.
There will be both free and paid DLC as well – Nomura tries to expand the game this way, and according to him, the paid DLC, which will be bigger than the free one, should be out by the end of the year so he can „have the team move on to its next work,” which is probably Final Fantasy VII Remake. About the future of Kingdom Hearts, Nomura said nothing – he already has a „full schedule for the rest of the year.”
PlayStation’s Twitter account also announced when the long-awaited, free Kingdom Hearts VR Experience, which was first planned to arrive by Christmas, then delayed to January, will be finally available for the PlayStation VR-owners. If you’re lucky, you might find it on the PlayStation Store by now: it is going to be available from February 28.
Kingdom Hearts III will get free and paid expansions over the course of 2019, but we don’t know what we can expect aside from the Critical Mode difficulty.
