Unreal 4’s amazing new demo is the most incredible thing you’ll see today

TECH – Rebirth and Troll are two cinematics that achieves impressive photorealism with ray tracing techniques.

The technical demonstrations of graphics engines are one of the most obvious and striking points of attraction for technology lovers. Although it will take a long time to see how this is translated to video games in real time (probably several generations), the truth is that demonstrations of power such as Rebirth or Troll are a proof of what the future may present us.

“Introducing the Photorealism in Unreal Engine 4“, the first of them is an amazing sample of just two and a half minutes that shows natural scenes and others modified by the hand of man in a bleak futuristic environment.

To say that the work of the Quixel team is photorealistic would, surely, fall short. “We combine the power of Unreal Engine with real-world scans of Iceland and, with Rebirth, we offer a new way to make computer graphics.” The video employs high-end ray tracing techniques to round out it’s lighting.

For its part, Troll (A Real-Time Saga) comes from Goodbye Kansas and Deep Forest Films and is a demonstration of power using Unreal Engine again, ray tracing techniques and camera effects to achieve “an unprecedented level of cinematic lighting”, and of unusual complexity for the shadows “.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
