The big N isn’t fooling around, and isn’t as secretive, as say, Hideo Kojima is with Death Stranding – multiple titles got a release window!
Nintendo has published a list that names several Switch games with either concrete release dates or release windows, but a few games got the short end of the stick. Let’s see what Europe (and North America – no changes, actually) got:
- Super Mario Maker 2 – 6/28/2019
- Dragon Quest Builders 2 – 7/12/2019
- Fire Emblem: Three Houses – 7/26/2019
- Astral Chain – 8/30/2019
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order – Summer 2019
- Daemon X Machina – Summer 2019
- Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition – Fall 2019
- Pokémon Sword and Shield – Late 2019
- Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch – 2019
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 – 2019
- The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening – 2019
- Bayonetta 3 – TBA
- Metroid Prime 4 – TBA
Japan’s list is a bit shorter, but there are a few games that have launched there already. There is one difference, though: the next main Pokémon game, Pokémon Sword/Shield is listed as Winter 2019 there. We might see them get it in early December while we get it in mid-December. Everything might be depending on the localization, but we might see a worldwide simultaneous release, and if that happens, the game will sell like hotcakes.
Let’s admit it, it’s a respectable move from a publisher to issue such a list for its major games, as you can easily plan to put away some money to acquire some of the titles you’d like from that list. Sony and Microsoft should also do something similar, but the former doesn’t want to say anything about when The Last of Us Part II will hit the PlayStation 4…
