Days Gone: A Success Here, A Failure There!
Sony’s newest PlayStation 4-exclusive didn’t become a bestseller on the PlayStation Store in all regions. The US PlayStation Blog reports that SIE Bend Studio’s newest game didn’t manage to start on the top of the PlayStation Store charts, as Mortal Kombat 11 managed to surpass Deacon! It’s a significant surprise! Let’s see the US PlayStation 4 top ten:
1 Mortal Kombat 11
2 Days Gone
3 World War Z
4 Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition
5 MLB The Show 19
6 Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition
7 Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
8 Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
9 Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
10 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
With Borderlands, it’s weird to see claiming two places, especially how the collection with more games is 7th, while the updated first game is 4th. We don’t get it. (And seeing MLB in fifth isn’t surprising either… America loves baseball.) There’s no PlayStation Vita list anymore. What a shame. Did Sony entirely move on from the handheld? Alright, let’s see the PlayStation VR top ten then:
1 Beat Saber
2 Job Simulator
3 Superhot VR
4 Creed: Rise to Glory
5 Gun Club VR
6 Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs
7 Killing Floor: Incursion
8 Drunkn Bar Fight
9 Borderlands 2 VR
10 Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality
We see the usual suspects, but Beat Saber’s success is commendable.
Let’s see Europe, as the EU PlayStation Blog shows entirely different results. On our continent, Days Gone started on top, while Mortal Kombat 11 only got to fourth place, as Grand Theft Auto V (which retained its second place from March) and World War Z (which also debuted in third place in the US) finished ahead of it. (We won’t copy the full top 20 in, only the first ten. Brackets show the games’ position in the previous month.)
- Days Gone (New)
- Grand Theft Auto V (2)
- World War Z (New)
- Mortal Kombat 11 (New)
- The Crew 2 (RE)
- Far Cry 5 (RE)
- FIFA 19 (4)
- Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition (RE)
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (RE)
- Minecraft (10)
There will be a few familiar titles with the PlayStation VR list:
- Beat Saber (1)
- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (RE)
- Arizona Sunshine (RE)
- Job Simulator (4)
- Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality (RE)
- Driveclub VR (RE)
- Just In Time Incorporated (New)
- I Expect You To Die (RE)
- Astro Bot Rescue Mission (RE)
- Drunkn Bar Fight (RE)
So, American and European tastes in gaming differ significantly. Still, it’s a surprise to see Sony’s newest exclusive to NOT claim first place in both regions. (We need to mention that the EU PS Blog only lists three charts – we skipped the DLC one. With the US PS Blog, we skipped the free-to-play and the PS4 themes charts.)
