So after Electronic Arts stopping its On The House freebie deals for no real reason, they are offering something for free. What happened to the publisher that they pulled such a kind gesture out of their moneybags? Could it be their bad reputation amongst the players?
The Sims is Maxis’ series, which – as time went by – got more and more extra things on top of the base game, thanks to Electronic Arts’ money-hungry approach, pricing the add-ons expensive. The Sims 4, which has been silently launched on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One as well, is no exception to the rule – we can now get this game for free.
The offer, which you can active here, is active until May 28, and yes, you will need Electronic Arts’ Origin client, but most publishers have one of those (Ubisoft has uPlay, Bethesda and Blizzard have their respective launchers, and there’s also the Epic Games Store launcher… indeed, a little too much). We’ll only get the base game this way (you can get the Holiday Celebration DLC too…), which isn’t surprising seeing Electronic Arts’ minimalistic approach, but it’s still better than nothing. You’ll need an Origin account, too – perhaps the publisher wants to make us subscribe to Origin Access or Origin Access Premier this way to gain access to even more titles, even before their release for up to ten hours. (We see what you’re trying to pull, Andrew Wilson!)
The Sims 4 has six expansion packs, seven game packs, and fourteen stuff packs as well, so if you want to get the full game, you’ll easily have to spend about five hundred dollars. Even with discounts, it’s still a hefty cost to pay.
All we have to say at the end of this unnecessarily long thing is to have fun.
