Red Faction Evolution: What’s THQ Nordic Up To?

A new Red Faction game has leaked, but the source of its existence is pretty hilarious.

This time, we’re not talking about a Reddit, a 4chan, or a ResetEra post! Instead, the leaker is none other than NVidia! On the Metacouncil forums, there’s a discussion about how the list of NVidia’s photo mode (Ansel)-supporting games include something called Red Faction Evolution. We have never heard of this game before! And do you know what the best part is? NVidia’s Ansel page still lists this game! Does one of the biggest GPU manufacturers not care about leaks at all?

Let’s quickly discuss what Ansel is: it’s NVidia‘s technology to allow us to create 360-degree photos in games, and then, we can do post-processing on them, change their resolution, and so on. More and more games support Ansel, and it’s likely that in the future, almost all major titles will support taking such screenshots.

Red Faction got its last new game in 2011 (it was Red Faction Armageddon). Last year, Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered was (re-)released, which means THQ Nordic, the owner of the IP, has not forgotten this license that started out in 2001. Back then, it was a decent FPS that allowed us to destroy some parts of the environment. And since THQ Nordic has 48 unannounced games in development, Red Faction Evolution might be one of these projects.

Our guess – going by the name – is that the first Red Faction is getting a remake, but it might be a brand new game as well. As E3 is upon us (and we have already seen two games that THQ Nordic might announce – we previously wrote about this subject in detail), we’ll get to learn there what it could be.
