The C64 Will Get A Full-Sized Version, Too [VIDEO]

The mini version of the Commodore 64 is now going to get a full-sized iteration, too.

The C64, developed by Retro Games, isn’t going to fall into the mistakes of minification. As we’re talking about a computer, it’s obviously not the best idea to make a machine with a keyboard smaller (unless you have a hand the size of a mouse), so it’s not surprising that The C64 is going to get a full-sized version in stores later this year.

Back in December, the company announced that The C64’s original sized prototype is complete, and they published a few images of it as well. Back then, they didn’t say when the machine, complete with a fully working keyboard, a USB classic joystick, and an HDMI output. The box will contain an HDMI cable, a USB power cable and a USB AC adapter, meaning you don’t have to find one to get playing. The machine will have three modes: if you don’t like the C64 Basic, you can switch to VIC20 Basic or Games Carousel.

The C64 will have sixty-four games on it (with classics, such as Boulder Dash, or new games, like Galencia or Attack of the Mutant Camels), but we can save and load our custom C64 or VIC20 games via a USB drive. The games can be run on either 50 or 60 Hz, and you can also apply custom CRT filters on them, too.

Koch Media, owned by THQ Nordic AB, currently has plans for Europe and the United Kingdom only, when it comes to the price or the release date. The C64’s full-sized version will launch on December 5 for 120 euros (or 110 GBP). We wonder if it will even stand a chance to be successful at that price point. Here’s the complete lsit of the games:
