Treyarch‘s Call of Duty, which launched last autumn, is turning into its next season.
The Z in the title is completely intentional, as the new updates focus on zombies. The legacy of Zombies resonates in Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII, which will expand with a new Specialist character (Reaper), three multiplayer maps, and a ton of customization items and gear, not to mention the environmental changes in the Blackout battle royale mode. The package wouldn’t be complete if the Zombies experience wouldn’t get a new chapter, which it will (named Alpha Omega).
There will be free and paid content as well, we’ll start with the former. „[…] Sunny skies have departed in favour of something more un-deadly in the main Blackout map […] a deep fog and familiar Zombies sights and sounds. Additionally, the Alcatraz map debuts a nighttime atmospheric change complete with new Zombie enemies. Coming later in the Operation, brand-new Zombie-themed Blackout modes will also debut in the game, including Pandemic and Alcatraz Horde,” the press release says. The new Specialist, Reaper, „is a cutting-edge combat robot with a robust fighting style wielding the Scythe, a high-powered, two-handed minigun unleashing heavy gunfire […] also equipped with a Radar Shroud that prohibits enemies from using their minimap and deploys a scrambling device to block out areas on enemies’ minimap.” The new Black Market gear includes new customization items, as well as weapons, such as the Reaver C86 Crossbow, Black Ops III’s Argus Shotgun, Daemon 3XB Mastercraft, MOG 12 MKll and Vendetta MKll. The Zombies maps will have new Perks and Elixirs, too.
The paid contents include the new multiplayer maps and the Zombies chapter, all showing up on the PlayStation 4. The new multiplayer maps are Der Schatten (Austrian Alps), Remnant (set in Louisiana state in the US), Havana (remastered map from the first Call of Duty: Black Ops). The new Zombies „experience,” Alpha Omega, converges the timelines of Primis and Ultimis, meaning both casts’ characters join forces. (You should get all this content with the season pass named Black Ops Pass.)
Operation Apocalypse Z in Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is already available on PlayStation 4 since July 9. The Xbox One and PC should get it from July 16.
