Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Details [VIDEO]

A lot of multiplayer details about this year’s Call of Duty.

„For us [the white phosphorous] kinda came out of the old EMP killstreak. It’s really hard to convey this electromagnetic pulse that disrupts maybe your HUD. So it wasn’t like a set change or a mood change, the stakes had changed for us. It does a strip of damage, the smoke plumes come out, and there are just little hotspots of burning embers. When you’re in it, you cough and you’re at half health, so it’s like a softener of things. Our game is more about two sides, that there is no good guy or bad guy, you play on either one. We’re just creating this playground to play on. I always felt like in the previous games that multiplayer is like the distant weapon fire that you hear a few blocks away from where the single player is. Maybe people are reacting to the photogrammetry, the more realistic visuals [than what the nukes had]. Maybe if it was more cartoony would that be more acceptable?”, multiplayer design director Geoff Smith explained.

How will cross-play work? It is tied to the device we use to control our character: „We’re going to be matchmaking by peripheral, so if you’re a keyboard player you’re going to play with other keyboard players, but if you’re a console player and you’re playing on a gamepad you can opt-in… We also don’t let you change your controller or peripheral mid-match, so once you’ve chosen it, it’s locked in,” designer director Joe Cecot told DualShockers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a Dark Edition, which has no pricing officially revealed yet, but according to an already deleted GameStop listing, it is going to cost 200 dollars. Why is it so expensive? The answer is simple: after 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you can get night-vision goggles with it. The images are from Twitter. For this much money, aside from the game and the goggles, you get a steelbook, a tactical knife in the game, and three Operator packs.

Here are the beta schedule details:

„[…] Players can jump into new play spaces […] from quick-action, close-quarters two-versus-two experiences in Gunfight, traditional six-versus-six multiplayer gameplay, modes that support 10-versus-10 and 20-versus-20 firefights, along with high-player count maps and combat, such as the all-new Ground War, an epic large-scale mode supporting more than 100-players. […] Players will be able to outfit their multiplayer operators for every combat encounter, with unprecedented customization and modifiability in the new Gunsmith system. […]”, the press release says.

Activision Blizzard runs Call of Duty Endowment this year as well – they announced a new fundraising campaign to aid their goal in placing 100,000 veterans into high-quality careers by 2024. If you donate via Tiltify, you will receive a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare inspired calling card at the launch of the game. You can also donate via here, too.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on October 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
