Reggie Fils-Aimé took an unexpected turn after retiring from leading Nintendo of America a couple of months ago.
Reggie has graduated from Cornell University, which is found in Ithaca, New York in the United States. He’s coming back to this place, because, from October 21, he will pick up a role in Leader in Residence (which is a new, experimental program initiated by Cornell University). This role will leadership, conscious capitalism, and service. Fils-Aimé will be involved in developing a non-traditional classroom. He will perform individual mentorship, small group discussion, and the odd public lecture – his first lecture will be open to the public (it will take place at Cornell University’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management).
„Each academic year, the Dyson Leadership Program invites premier leaders to the Cornell campus with its Leaders in Residence program. Students, primarily undergraduates, learn about leadership through ongoing, personal interaction with successful leaders who represent a variety of industries and sectors. Leaders in Residence will come to campus once each semester to meet one-on-one with students, lead small group discussions, and facilitate a larger workshop, all centred around leadership, conscious capitalism, and service,” reads a statement from Cornell University.
Cornell University has also confirmed Reggie’s appearance on Twitter, and Fils-Aimé – using his quirky humour, as he tends to involve memes that form around him on the Internet! – has also posted about his Cornell involvement: „Don’t skip class. Don’t fall asleep. Better be a great student when Regginator is your lecturer.”
It is an unexpected decision, but since Reggie is a quite popular figure (his role at the helm of Nintendo of America was taken over by a fittingly named person, Doug Bowser), Cornell’s idea is brilliant, and it will give them some attention in the news as well.
