Capcom has already published a teaser video for the next Resident Evil.
Project Resistance is the game that we discussed a few times before – Capcom was testing this title with a few players in Japan and the United States. Now, we can say that it will have a multiplayer approach, as, in the video, we see four characters use melee and guns. There’s also a secret laboratory (to which, we immediately say Umbrella – no, not Rihanna’s and Jay-Z’s song but the antagonist company in Resident Evil…), and one of the favourite characters of Resident Evil 2 Remake, namely the Tyrant, also shows up.
Going by the teaser, it seems we will be able to control our enemies as well, but since we don’t take control of Umbrella soldiers this time (which was the case in 2012’s Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, a flop at the time), Project Resistance also has a bit of Left 4 Dead-style to it as well. The game uses the RE Engine, utilized by Resident Evil 2 Remake and Devil May Cry 5 this year, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017.
It also seems possible – we’re merely guessing here – that Project Resistance could be a 4v1 asynchronous multiplayer title, which is something we have seen a few years ago with not much success (do you even remember Evolve?). If Capcom announces the closed beta for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which runs in Japan in early October, for the rest of the world, we might get more thoughts about the game.
Project Resistance is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Judging by the end logos, it will have PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements and that it will launch on Steam instead of the Epic Games Store. More details will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show.
