Review bombing the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare punishes its political discourse

Fans around the world criticize the narrative decisions of the Infinity Ward team with their ratings.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has reached the hands of players around the world in controversy. And it is that a significant number of fans are really critical of the title campaign and certain plot details of its plot, which has led to the new production of Infinity Ward being punished by a “review bombing”.

The story that players star in in this new Modern Warfare involves the US military forces in an open confrontation against a group of terrorist organizations. Some of these terrorists are based in a fictional country in the Middle East or have Russian nationality, something that fans of these countries have not liked.

The reaction has been to carry out a massive vote in Metacritic with very negative ratings that have made the game have a really low average score at the time of writing this text: 3.1 on PS4, 3.2 on Xbox One and 2.1 on PC. Certain comments even indicate that these details of the story is “spitting in the face of the Russian people”, who by the way, will not be able to download the game from the PS4 Store in their country.

It is not the first time that one of the important releases of the year receives this type of reception from a certain sector of the players, but the issue of the nationality of the enemies to defeat in the game is also accompanied by the controversy generated by a controversial campaign scene. Regardless of narrative suspicions, Call of Duty; Modern Warfare leads sales in the UK in a top full of recent releases.
