You Can Expect A Familiar Face In Yakuza: Like A Dragon [VIDEO]

If the Yakuza series is familiar to you, you will notice a character in the new trailer that you may not have expected.

Famitsu, which might be in a bit of conflict of interest due to Death Stranding (we discussed this subject the other day), revealed a new, ten-minute video of Yakuza: Like A Dragon, of which we recently mentioned that it is going to get a demo. Now, in case you have a Japanese PlayStation account, you can already pick the demo up on this link, as SEGA published it for their local fans. As the Japanese launch of the game is about two months away, it makes sense that the game, which is known as Ryu Ga Gotoku 7 over there (the series is running under this name, and it is numbered in Japan), is thus in a playable state.

At the end of the new trailer, Kazuma Kiryu appears. He was the main character of the Yakuza games from the first one up to Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. However, in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ichiban Kasuga is the new protagonist. However, the trailer below shows Kiryu standing before Kasuga to fight. We don’t know when this game is set, though, so Yakuza: Like A Dragon could be a side story along with the previous six instalments. (We are wildly guessing here, though – perhaps we get to know more shortly.)

SEGA plans to launch Yakuza: Like A Dragon later in 2020 on PlayStation 4 in the West. We wouldn’t be surprised if the Japanese company decides to double dip with a PlayStation 5 version. The game will have a unique levelling system and turn-based combat in an RPG – we discussed these topics previously.
