PlayStation 5 – Sony‘s web site’s HTML code has something suspicious.
So the PlayStation 5 already has a website. The English and the German has the same thing but in a different language. We already wrote about it, so quickly recapping: you can sign up for a newsletter by providing your email address and your date of birth. Still, we’d like to show an image from the site’s source code.
Starblaster 2? What on Earth is that? It’s fine if you don’t know the first game, as it’s quite an old one by now. Star Blaster launched in 1983 on the Apple II computer. It’s a side-scrolling shoot’em up, where we had to make our ship go from the right to the left. If you still don’t remember, here’s a gameplay video of the original.
Unless Sony’s site’s source code is referencing to some software (who knows?), then the PlayStation 5’s launch line-up could include Starblaster 2 (Star Blaster 2?), which wouldn’t be a bad idea. A side-scrolling shmup could look good, and if it comes with fast-paced, relentless gameplay, then this game could showcase the abilities of the next-gen console.
Let’s Go Digital believes that Sony will use the Samsung NVMe SSD 980 QVO in the PlayStation 5. Not EVO, QVO! (And especially not the PRO, which was showcased by Samsung at the CES this year – the 7 GB/s sequential writing speed sounds good, yes, but the console would cost a fortune!) Samsung has registered the EVO and the QVO models at the EU Intellectual Property Office (with the former „easily” being capable of reaching 5.5-6 GB/s speed), so we might be able to buy them this year. The slogan is interesting: „Unstoppable Speed.”
The NVMe SSD, using the PCIe 4.0 standard, will be indeed fast, and it’s possible that the QVO would be the entry model. Let’s Go Digital thinks that Sony picked this SSD to keep the costs low (and probably still have 4.0+ GB/s speed with it). The site believes this SSD will cost 150 bucks for a 1 TB version, with the PRO model’s price around 350 USD.
The PlayStation 5 will launch this Holiday season (possibly in November). Due to the pricing race, even Sony doesn’t know how much the console will cost.
