There is no Desperados without Doc McCoy. THQ Nordic (the publisher) and Mimimi Productions (the dev team) didn’t miss the chance.

We already saw Doc McCoy in the first game (Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, developed by Spellbound, who now run as Black Forest Games; the game launched in 2001), although back then, he wasn’t the protagonist. Instead, it was John Cooper. We also saw him in the second game (2006), but he gets knocked out at the end, and in Helldorado (2007, the direct sequel to the events of the second game), we also saw the doctor.

He fought and worked as a doctor alike, but could not stand the horror and the futility of the war, so he deserted after a year of service and became a gun for hire,” THQ Nordic says about the character.

Desperados III, which was announced in 2018, didn’t come out in 2019 (that was the original plan). Instead, it arrives this summer on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
