MOVIE NEWS – One of the protagonists of the Uncharted film believes that its script resembles Indiana Jones.
Yesterday, we already wrote about how Uncharted‘s cast has been expanded by Antonio Banderas for example. With it, we’re another step closer to the film eventually showing up on the big screen, which would be a pleasant surprise after a decade of standing still. Since then, Mark Wahlberg, who will be Sully in the film (originally, he was meant to be Drake, but he said that time worked against him, and he’s too old for it now!), told Collider () that the film’s shooting is going to start shortly.
He said that it will start „about two weeks,” which falls in line what Tom Holland (the new Spider-Man) said two weeks ago. The actor, who will be the young Drake in the film, said that it will begin in about a month.
Wahlberg re-confirmed that the film will be an origin story, as the first meeting of Drake and Sully will play a pivotal role. (And since Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception had such a scene, it’s probably going to be expanded in the film.) He also had an interesting comparison: „I felt like when I was reading it, I was reading Indiana Jones or Thomas Crown Affair. It’s got these great elements of these heist movies and adventure movies like I’ve never been a part of,” he said. He has a point: as Indy, Drake is an archaeologist that travels around the world to get rid of a few people, while visiting historical sites. He doesn’t use a lasso or wear a hat, though.
So Uncharted has quite positive signs of becoming something we can see next year in cinemas. Ruben Fleischer will be its director (and it has been rumoured for a while), so he likely slammed the table and said: „we will do it now, no objections.” Finally!
