Ah, the typical praising comment, followed up immediately by bashing the chest regarding the other product. William Stillwell, the principal program manager of Microsoft Cognition, has done just that.
Stillwell showed up in a DealerGaming podcast. Here, he got asked what he thought about Mark Cerny’s PlayStation 5 presentation (which was originally meant to be held at the Game Developers Conference, but the coronavirus has flipped the world upside down). Stillwell said the following (at around the 90-minute mark in the video below): „So – just like Inside Xbox – I think sometimes has the problem of the audience expectations don’t match what the content plans are, I think what you saw was the unfortunate byproduct of a GDC talk being turned into a marketing event. I love Cerny’s talk. I think they’ve got some cool tech. I think we’re gonna have a better console. I’m not worried about the power narrative.”
He added that he enjoys some of the discourse about the rival consoles, and he hinted that some of the misguided comments regarding the technical specifications of the next-gen consoles are amusing. „I will also say this, and I’ve said it before: Mark Cerny is a brilliant guy, smart guy. I think he was put in a bad spot but I do think the content was pretty good if you were watching it with the right perspective. The other side of it is that they have great IP,” he added. He doesn’t think that Sony has ripped Xbox off with the new controller, called DualSense (and not DualShock 5). Instead, he says it resembles more of Google’s Stadia controller.
We got used to this approach by the Redmond-based company. The Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 are both planned to launch this Holiday season.
