Did Epic Games Store’s Freebie Plan Leak?

Grand Theft Auto V might not be the only significant game on Tim Sweeney’s digital storefront. (His company showcased the Unreal Engine 5 the other day, and we discussed it in detail.)

You read that correctly, Grand Theft Auto V is indeed available for free on the Epic Games Store until May 21, and now, you can add the game to your account there without problems, unlike yesterday, because the service was so overwhelmed by the people that we either got a 500 or a 504 error when trying to access the Epic Games Store. There are also rumours saying that The Witcher 3 could also become a freebie, as it was added at the same time to the database as Rockstar’s title was.

What’s this sudden jump in the scale and quality of games amongst the freebies? The Epic Mega Sale has started, which offers heavy discounts on many games. (And since CD Projekt RED’s game is also discounted at the moment, we doubt that it would be a freebie later on.) However, we might have learned the next three titles, if this image from Reddit is to be believed.

We see the schedule for the next month or so. From May 21, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI might be the next free title, followed by Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (containing the first two games and Pre-Sequel) on May 28, and ARK: Survival Evolved on June 4, respectively. If this is true, then Tim Sweeney might have paid a ton of cash to make these games available for free.

Last year, Epic Games Store ended 2019 on changing the free game each DAY, it looks plausible, especially after Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar’s game (which launched on PC in 2015, nearly 1.5 years after the PS3/X360 original) might have never been given away as such on this scale on PC.

Keep in mind that none of this is confirmed so far aside from GTA V!
