Two Senior Executives In Trouble At Ubisoft?

The French company didn’t fool around at all: they promised that they will start investigating cases of sexual misconduct within Ubisoft

This has been a tough subject throughout the week: first, we reported that Ashraf Ismail, the director of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla has decided to leave on absence to get his personal life straight due to accusations of not staying loyal to his wife but enter relationships with others. Then, Ubisoft first said the game’s development will continue, followed by a statement that they will hire a third-party company to help with the investigations. It might already bring results…

Jason Schreier, who formerly wrote for Kotaku and is doing so for Bloomberg, reports that the French company has placed two of its senior executives on leave. He also named the two people, who both have at least three allegations made against them: they are Tommy François (who might be familar for the French: he worked at the Game One channel two decades ago…) and Maxime Béland. We’d like to mention the latter: Béland was the director of the last few Splinter Cell games, and he recently returned to Ubisoft to work with them again…

It could be awkward if Ubisoft is indeed working on bringing Splinter Cell and Sam Fisher back, and not just as a guest appearance in other games but with a brand new title in the series. (However, we do have our doubts: it could be wholly different than what we’d expect. The same also applies to Beyond Good & Evil 2.)

We haven’t even mentioned Ubisoft’s Stone Chin (associate public relations director) yet, who was accused of predatory behaviour, so he, along with Andrien Gbinigie (who was accused of emotional abuse and rape, and his defence post was wiped from Medium…) might be in trouble.

And the worst part is that the story is FAR from over. Ubisoft will likely reveal all details necessary when the investigation ends. A few heads might fall here.
