PlayStation Plus: The July Games

Sony seems to have given up on the Wednesday afternoon announcements (way to kick the tradition up the stairs), so instead, they announced earlier what we will get.

The PlayStation Plus is ten years old. It had both good and bad moments, and the latter was more common in the last year, as some of the games were incredibly niche. They also just give two games recently, but it’s a must-have service for those who want to play PlayStation 4 games online (except for a few free-to-play titles).

Let’s see the games that are available from July 7 to August 3. The first one will benefit the American players, as this is going to be Take-Two’s (2K’s… same thing) annual basketball game, NBA 2K20. The second game is going to be Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. This version was the PlayStation 4 version, released a year after the Xbox One/PC original (Square Enix and Microsoft were in cahoots at that time), celebrating the 20th anniversary of Lara Croft. Way to be funny, Sony. (This game is the second title in the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy.)

There will also be a third title. Wow, what a surprise. It’s going to be Erica. „This feature-length cinematic experience merges high-fidelity Hollywood production values with engaging, tactile gameplay. Become Erica, a brave young lady plagued with nightmares of your father’s murder,” the PlayStation Blog says. Also, a free PlayStation 4 theme that celebrates the ten years of PlayStation Plus will be on the PlayStation Store shortly, but only for a limited time.

Let’s end with the common thing then: happy birthday, PlayStation Plus. Let’s hope the arrival of the PlayStation 5 will increase the quality of the games (or maybe give us more than two per month). The subscribers deserve it.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
