Before Sucker Punch decided to stick with the feudal Japan setting for Ghost of Tsushima, they had another project that eventually got scrapped.
Prophecy could have been a third-person, action-adventure game, but with a closer camera and a style of gameplay that seems to be similar to some of the earlier Assassin’s Creed games. Prophecy looks to be set in a medieval city, featuring some parkour elements, as well as sword-fighting mechanics that might have been brought forward in an evolved version in Ghost of Tsushima that launched this Friday.
The gameplay and the art style, however, resembles a game that launched recently. In September 2019, Spiders’ GreedFall came out, and it feels like Prophecy, but that was a multiplatform game (as it was available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC). However, Prophecy seems to be lacking Ghost of Tsushima’s flair and charm. At least the demo seems to be running fairly well, so it could be the vertical slice (the skeleton of the game in other words) that Sucker Punch showcased to the higher-ups at Sony.
We earn you: the embedded YouTube video below might be deleted for some reason, but we’re going to add that we have come prepared to have this scenario covered, too. Unfortunately, if the YouTube reupload gets deleted, you will have to resort to downloading the video, as there is no other option – previously, Ubisoft has deleted the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla leaks in a similarly aggressive approach. So you can download the file from here. And if THIS gets deleted, we’ll simply ask: „and how are you going to wipe it from our hard drives?”
Let’s take a closer look at Prophecy then, which will thus be likely never made. Perhaps it’s a good idea, as Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima has been an incredible experience.
