One of the major UK retailers might have spilt the beans…
On Reddit, the following images surfaced below.
Let’s explain this. In most Western countries (unlike here, in the Balkans), it’s common to pay a small fee upfront for a game so that you are guaranteed to receive a disc/cassette of said game’s physical copy. You can see a receipt of it on the first two images. The receipt comes from one of the GAME stores, albeit censored to protect the identity of the leaker, as it’s highly likely they would be fired it the details wouldn’t have been censored.
DEP PS4 N7 – DEP stands for a deposit, which is reasonable. PS4 – PlayStation 4, not much needs to be explained. N7 – this is a vocational code in the Systems Alliance military, and it effectively means the highest level of special forces training. Within GAME, this is the code for Mass Effect Trilogy, and if we look at the game’s website, we only see an error message.
However, look at the third image! It has a release date listed for us! September 29 is a Tuesday, so it looks reasonable from this aspect. And they list the release dates of many significant games so the employees can prepare for more customers on certain days… and this internal list also seems to mention September 29 below.
Keep in mind that it’s not official yet, and September 29 might not be the final release date; the coronavirus global pandemic has spoiled many plans this year (just think of all the games that were delayed because of it). However, since there was already a pre-order for this collection (let’s hope that it’s not a fake…), as well as an internal GAME website (which was taken off since…), it looks real for now.
If we’re lucky, Gamescom might have the announcement for us. Electronic Arts will thus release Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered on the PlayStation 4 at least (and we wouldn’t rule out a PlayStation 5 version either – Sony might have done a deal with EA as one of its many alleged third-party deals!). It might launch in 2021, though, but EA wants to release Shepard’s adventure this fiscal year (until March).
