A Big Slap For Street Fighter Fans: Yoshinori Ono Is Gone!

Yoshinori Ono, Producer of Onimusha, Dead Rising, Darkstalkers and of course Street Fighter will leave Capcom after 30 years.

Sad day for fans of Street Fighter and Capcom. Yoshinori Ono, the producer of the games in the franchise, has revealed through a Twitter statement that he is leaving the company. The reasons why Ono made this decision have not been revealed, but the writing reflects his affection for Street Fighter, Capcom and the fans.

“I have been with the Street Fighter brand for a long time, experiencing good and bad moments,” Ono said in the text. “My heart is full of gratitude to those players who have given their warm and kind support in the last decade,” he said.

After these emotional words and in the middle of the text, as if he did not want to give it importance, the Japanese dropped the bombshell: “After serving Capcom for almost thirty years, I will leave the company this summer.” Yoshinori Ono has stated in the text that he will resign from his position. But he has not hesitated right after to point out that he believes that the new managers of Street Fighter will continue to make the franchise something extraordinary.

Ono, who has made it clear that he will continue to monitor the news of the saga and that he will be attentive to new games, began the statement apologizing for the controversy that arose over the format of the Capcom Pro Tour 2020. The esports event was affected by the coronavirus and it seems that the fans did not like too much the decision to do it online.

The news is sure to feel like a jug of cold water for many players. We’ll see how this affects a likely Street Fighter VI, but while that happens, fans also have reason to be happy because Capcom gave details a few days ago of what will come to Street Fighter V with the fifth season.
