The legendary SEGA console gets a new car racing game after the Dreamcast retro game successfully collected the expected amount on Kickstarter.
No, it’s not a joke. This August, on a specific date yet to be determined, Arcade Racing Legends, a car racing game for the Dreamcast, will be released. This game, which was a hit on Kickstarter and was funded with the support of 323 users, has been created by PixelHeart, a company that makes and distributes games for retro consoles.
The game is already, before getting published, a collector’s item. The basic edition of the game, which can be pre-purchased for 39 euros, is limited to 3,000 units and will carry your document proving that it is real. On the other hand, the Road Trip Edition, which costs € 49.90, can only be purchased by 1,000 people. Of course, you will also have your certificate, in addition to the addition of a CD with the soundtrack. By the way, both editions will come with a manual, something we no longer see today.
Arcade Racing Legends will allow a race between two players, it will have race and time trial modes, more than 15 cars (including the Crazy Taxi vehicle), 6 circuits and an original soundtrack, composed of electro and punk/rock songs. The truth is that the game looks very good compared to the SEGA console’s standards and we are sure that many fans will want to own the title.
The video game has been in development for two years and is clearly inspired by classic arcade driving games. The game comes a year after the celebration of 20 years since the release of Dreamcast in the United States.
