After Warner seems to not sell off its video games division (with its devs, not with the DC licenses), it seems they will kick into a higher gear with the games.
Rocksteady Games (which developed all Batman: Arkham games, except for Batman: Arkham Origins) has already confirmed that they are working on a Suicide Squad games, and it is going to be shown in detail at DC FanDome, on August 22. With it, we can tick one title off. However, two other studios are yet to announce what they do. They are Warner Bros. Montreal (which previously made Batman: Arkham Origins) and NetherRealm Studios (which launched Mortal Kombat 11 a year ago).
The Warner studio, set in the Quebec province of Canada, has been rumoured to develop a new Batman game, and now, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has essentially all but confirmed it on Twitter: „They were doing a Damian Wayne Batman game but then that was cancelled/rebooted as well. WB Montreal‘s new Batman game should also be at DC FanDome.” Damian Wayne would be the genetically engineered son of Batman and Talia al Ghul. Now, the team should be making a game based on the Court of Owls storyline/crime gang.
That’s two out of three, but NetherRealm is also doing something. Tom Taylor, one of DC’s writers hinted on Twitter two weeks ago with an I and an N letter that the studio is making Injustice 3 (or… Injustic3?). Nikolai Baslajik, also known as BossLogic, then showed this image also on Twitter.
Going by the background, the Watchmen would also be part of the story, IF the image is official. However, BossLogic worked on multiple games’ artwork, including Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, so it is plausible to think that Warner’s third game will be revealed at DC FanDome, with this image being an in-your-face teaser.
We’ll know everything in two weeks.
