Larian Studios ran out of time, so the Belgian studio decided to push the Early Access launch of Baldur’s Gate III back a bit.
In the video below, you can see some new gameplay of Baldur’s Gate, and Larian also has a bit of a roundtable talk. Swen Vincke, the CEO of the dev team, says that this delay isn’t because of the coronavirus. Instead, he wants to provide the developers more time to properly optimize Baldur’s Gate III, as its development is progressing nicely. Therefore, you should look for the Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate III from September 30 on Steam, GOG, and Google Stadia. The game will be incomplete, but that’s expected.
In the video below, you can also see a living brain that Lae’zel, one of our party members, rips it out of a skull (at 56:00 if you are interested in lobotomy). There’s also the extended opening cinematic at 29:15. In the Early Access version of the game, you can play up to level 4, engage in 80 combat encounters, encounter 596 NPCs, unleash 146 spells and other actions, and get in on 4-player online action. There will be twice as much content as in Divinity: Original Sin II’s early access version. The five playable characters are Astarion (Elf / Vampire Thief), Gale (Human Magician), Lae’zel (Githyanki Warrior), Shadowheart (Half-Elf Cleric), and Wyll (Human Sorcerer).
