After The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 will also receive a few free DLC.
When The Witcher 3 was launched in the Spring of 2015, CD Projekt RED kept adding free DLC to this game for three months, resulting in sixteen free DLC for the end of Geralt’s story. The Polish studio got a question whether this formula will be repeated with Cyberpunk 2077 or not, and their reply on Twitter is highly positive, even if it’s just a GIF using Kool-Aid Man, breaking the wall, going OH YEAH. Keep in mind that it’s not the same as an expansion – The Witcher 3 also received two paid expansions, and the first-person action-RPG (which isn’t an FPS according to CD Projekt RED, even if you have guns in it…) set in Night City may also go down this route.
„I would like to see such initiatives become an industry-standard rather than an exception to the general rule, and I hope that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has set a good example,” Marcin Iwiński, the co-founder of CD Projekt, said before. Unfortunately, not a lot of developers have followed their example since 2015.
The Polish studio – once again on Twitter – added that CD Projekt RED’s next game will offer customizable subtitles, meaning you can change both its size and colour. Recently, The Last of Us Part II has set a new standard in accessibility so that colourblind, near-sighted, and near-deaf people can also enjoy the continuation of the story that Naughty Dog started in 2013.
After a few delays, Cyberpunk 2077 launches on November 19 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The next-gen upgrade likely arrives in early 2021, although both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X will support the game out of the box. The multiplayer portion of the game will possibly drop in 2022, as it was affected by the recent delay along with the expansions.
