We can expect the Persian prince to make a return during Ubisoft Forward.
Daniel Ahmad, Niko Partners’ senior analyst, claims Prince of Persia’s remake will not launch on the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps he’s onto something if Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said the following during the Triple Click podcast: „They had been planning a new Ubisoft Forward, where they were going to announce a bunch of games like the Prince of Persia remake that was leaked a couple of weeks ago.” Even VGC claims this, based on its own Ubisoft sources.
So that’d be no less than three publications or people claiming the existence of the Prince of Persia remake. Add another one to the list, namely Amazon UK’s listing for a Prince of Persia remake for Xbox One. However, it has been since delisted, but VGC informed us about it, with the following screencap saved no less.
It might not say much, because the Prince of Persia term is quite wide. However, Ubisoft doesn’t seem to be that interested in platform-exclusives (we can’t even recall a recent exclusive game from the French company…), meaning the PlayStation 4 will also receive the game, and in that case, we can safely expect a PC version as well (which will be riddled with Denuvo, plus it will be exclusive to UPlay and the Epic Games Store).
We found two images on ResetEra, confirming the game to be a remake of the 2003 game, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The screenshots originate from the Russian UPlay.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands launched nearly a decade ago, and it was meant to be a reboot of the series after 2008’s Prince of Persia, which happened to have cel-shaded visuals and a higher emphasis on puzzle-solving than before. Since then, all we saw was a For Honor guest appearance and a VR escape room, but neither is equivalent to an AAA (or an AAAA…) title. (What does AAAA even mean? The same as now – base game, DLC, microtransactions – but for 70 dollars instead of 60?)
Ubisoft Forward will air today, starting with a pre-show, at 6 PM UTC.
