Xbox Series S will not feature Xbox One X’s enhancements for eighth-generation games

Microsoft will apply a texture filter and HDR support on previously enhanced titles on Xbox Series S.

News does not stop arriving regarding XSS, Microsoft’s new generation console that will be a ‘smaller’ version than Xbox Series X and that will reach stores for 299 euros, is a perfect option for more people be encouraged to jump into the new generation.

Among its characteristics, one of the main differences of Xbox Series X with Xbox Series S is that the ‘little sister’ does not reach 4K resolution, but stays at 1440p. Now, Microsoft’s smallest console comes up with another small against when it comes to running Xbox One games.

A Microsoft representative has confirmed in a statement that the XSS will run the Xbox One S version in its games, which means that if a game received an update to run in 4K on Xbox One X, the new XSS will not take advantage that improvement, but will make the Xbox One S version of the game work. Microsoft’s message, via GamesPew, reads as follows.

“Xbox Series S was designed to be the most affordable next-generation console and to play next-generation games at 1440P at 60fps. To deliver the highest quality backwards-compatible experience, XSS runs the Xbox One S version of backwards-compatible gaming while applying improved texture filtering, higher and more consistent frame rates, faster load times and automatic HDR. ”

This means that XSS will not take advantage of the graphical improvements offered by Xbox One X, although it will benefit from improvements in texturing, performance and image quality than the Xbox One S version.
