The Amazon-owned broadcasting website had many of its users to go word-by-word what Twitch has recommended them, even if that sounds like a ridiculously stupid idea.
This Autumn, Twitch started to annoy its users a lot, as many of their videos have been wiped from their servers, as those received more and more DMCA claims by bigger music labels, and the streamers had no chance to respond or even file a counter-claim, making it a severely one-sided decision. And Amazon, which dunked yet another few billion dollars into its money bags, defends it by saying that the fewer than 50 DMCA claims a year grew to thousands by May.
The Twitch recommendation was to play the game with the music muted. It sounds dumb, especially if it’s a rhythm game. (For example, there’s Beatmania on PlayStation 2 or Rhythm Heaven Fever on the Nintendo Wii. But we can bring up a few more franchises, such as Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, et cetera…) This tip is essentially useless if the music cannot be separately muted (or if it’s heard during cutscenes, like in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas or Scarface: The World is Yours – way to think it over, Twitch).
Yesterday, we mentioned how Twitch muted many videos because of the sound effects in them, thanks to the automated content ID system, called Audible Magic. These claims can be contested, but it still shows that an automated system can cause more trouble than good. The broadcasters started to play completely muted games to show how absurd this situation is, and some of them also started using the #DMCAsoundoff hashtag.
Resident Evil 2 Remake‘s sound effects being improvised is a great idea, but seeing Rocksmith fully muted makes it look funny… and awful. At the same time.

Since Twitch has recommended that game audio and music now be muted. I hope ya’ll are prepared for the age of Drongo produced sound effects and music.
