Cyberpunk 2077: Too Early To Talk About DLC And Multiplayer

CD Projekt RED will only talk about these after the game launches; and on the current-gen consoles, Cyberpunk 2077 has surprisingly good performance.

„The initial plan was to do it before release, but after the recent delay, we decided to wait for the release to provide gamers with the game and then start talking about future projects. So, after release,” Adam Kiciński, the CEO of CD Projekt RED, said during the company’s financial earnings call about the future expansions of DLC.

He knows the game won’t be in 100% perfect shape when it will launch: „So, in terms of bugs, we are all aware of them. Of course, such a big gang can’t be just bug-free. That’s the kind of obvious, but we believe that the level will be as low as to let gamers not see them. And fortunately, some bugs extended previous were caused by some general — I would say general features and many of them are already fixed. So, what gamers will get will be different from what — and what we viewers will get in this final review is it’s better than what previewers, got,” Kiciński added.

He also pointed out that the multiplayer component, which will be standalone, shouldn’t be called a game mode: „So, first, we don’t call it modes. It’s a separate dedicated production, a big production. And we plan — we think about it as a standalone product. It’s not entirely standalone as it comes from the universe of Cyberpunk and is very much related to the concept of single-player Cyberpunk we — I came up with. But from our perspective, it’s — is another independent production and independent team of people works on it. And there’s — I said already we are not focusing right now on talking too much about other future products, products that are to be released after Cyberpunk. So please be with us in the first quarter of next year when we plan to share some strategy update. And I believe Cyberpunk multiplayer will be possible,” he said.

He also played down that Cyberpunk 2077 will run perfectly on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One: „We released the gameplay both on PlayStation 4 [Pro] and PlayStation 5. So, you can see the difference. And on both — I mean, [the] PlayStation 5 is great. [Theg PlayStation 4 is still very good. I mean, we had those extra three weeks and we achieved a lot by — within this final stretch. So, we believe that the game is performing great on every platform. Of course, accordingly to platform capabilities, but not every platform should be great. Of course, a bit lower than on pros, but surprisingly good, I would say for such a huge world. So, a bit lower, but very good. That’s the answer,” Kiciński said. We’ll have to see for ourselves how the game will run on the current-gen platforms then.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on December 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series, until the next-gen patch drops next year, will run the PS4/X1 version, respectively.
