The scalpers will likely not even touch it with a ten-foot pole – that would put them in a difficult-to-recoup situation…
Caviar, a Russian company announced that they will go made next year with their products. In 2021, they will release a PlayStation 5 (and DualSense controller) that will have twenty kilograms of 18-carat gold on it. No wonder that they call the PlayStation 5, called the Golden Rock limited edition, „very difficult to manufacture.”
This console is clad in eight plates of 18-carat gold, and the already heavy console will thus become an even weightier object that could even be used to lift (although who on Earth would do that?). The 3D design aims to replicate the outlines of a rock face, mainly a gold one’s geometry. Caviar says that the casing of this console is made using the „original jewellery technique, which adds volume and texture to the model.” Luckily, the DualSense will have the gold limited to just its touchpad (but that might be rendered useless altogether with the addition…), and instead, the rest of the controller will be wrapped in premium black crocodile leather.
Caviar is going to make one Golden Rock PlayStation 5, and if you plan to get it, you might have to sell your body parts. While there’s no official price just yet, the gold itself costs about 900 thousand dollars. With the price, it easily dethrones the previously most expensive console on the market. The Truly Exquisite model, which is clad in 24-carat gold instead of 18, uses less gold, so its price is also far lower (about 10900 dollars).
And we’re pretty sure someone is going to get the Golden Rock, which… doesn’t look too good to be proudly put into the centre of our living rooms.
