Elias Toufexis would easily take the offer of giving Adam Jensen his voice again if he was given a choice.
Deus Ex. It’s an IP we haven’t seen in the past few years, as Square Enix doesn’t seem to care about the series that debuted over two decades ago. The last Deus Ex game launched in 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (as well as Linux, with a Mac port dropping in late 2017) – it was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which Toufexis worked on as the voice of Adam Jensen, the protagonist.
A fan asked on Twitter that if he was given a chance to reprise this role, would he do it? Toufexis replied: „I’ve been campaigning for it for a while, so unless it’s like some sort of new Deus Ex porn… I’d probably still do it.” Bringing up porn wasn’t out of leftfield: even Cyberpunk 2077 has received an adult adaptation, and many other popular games got one in the past few years.
But we don’t see much of a chance of anything happening. The dev team of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (as well as its 2011 prequel, Deus Ex: Human Revolution) was Eidos Montreal, who are now neck-deep into developing post-launch content for a live service game, Marvel’s Avengers (with Crystal Dynamics, who previously created the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy), so we don’t see much of a choice of Square Enix making the Canadian studio to go back to Deus Ex.
But especially Deus Ex: Human Revolution was incredible, and yes, it was different than the two previous games, but seeing how several years have passed since the launch of the second title (Deus Ex: Invisible War), it was expected to happen. Still, Square Enix should give a bit more care to the Deus Ex series.
