In return, Horizon Zero Dawn‘s PC port is getting less support.
Guerrilla Games is developing the sequel of Horizon Zero Dawn, and Sony has confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West is going to launch by the end of the year as a cross-gen title, meaning the next chapter of Aloy will get both a PlayStation 5 and a PlayStation 4 version published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
However, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition got a PC port last summer. It initially stood on weak legs, but the Dutch team that got fame via Killzone (which they pretty much confirmed to be abandoned!) continued to update it over time since its August launch, now hitting the 1.10 version.
Here’s what their website previously said: „We’re happy to announce that Patch 1.10 for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition is now live! This patch introduces crash fixes and performance improvements that were reported by our community.
As our team continues development on our upcoming title Horizon Forbidden West, we are shifting to less frequent updates for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for PC after this patch. Please note that we will continue to monitor our community spaces as always! We want to thank you all for your continued support and for sending in your crash reports over the past months. The information we received through your reports was invaluable to further investigate and help fix some of the trickier issues that we fixed in Patch 1.10.” We intentionally used an archived version of the page, as they effectively wiped the second paragraph from this text! But it’s a little too late, as we are talking about this text in question.
Horizon Forbidden West will likely launch near the end of the year on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 5 version was built from the ground up to make use of the next-gen hardware, meaning the PlayStation 4 port’s performance might be questionable. (If it will be better than Cyberpunk 2077’s, we should be happy…)
