Is Naughty Dog Developing A Fantasy Game?

After making platformers (Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter) and Indiana Jones-styled adventure titles (Uncharted), Naughty Dog has recently made post-apocalyptic games (The Last of Us) – but they might be changing genres again.

After The Last of Us Part II launched last summer exclusively on PlayStation 4, it was a question what Naughty Dog could be doing after shipping that game. Neil Druckmann, the vice president of the studio (who has previously was the director, the creative director, or co-writer of the team’s recent games) hinted on Twitter that the developers are „making something very cool” without going into further details.

However, we now have a senior artist from the studio hinting at what Naughty Dog could be up to at the moment. Hyoung Nam shared three images that you can find below on ArtStation. The first image features a woman leaning on a bloody sword, with a dragon’s corpse behind – she might have just killed the beast. The second one has another female character that looks like a shaman, and the third image features a woman with some hypnotising eyes. The description for all three says „Inspire from [the] new game called Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. You know what I’m talking about… ;)” All three are titled „The Women of North.”

We wouldn’t jump to conclusions straight away. The Women of North is possibly not the title of the game. Instead, we should consider Naughty Dog developing a fantasy title, which would be another big change for the studio. However, seeing their previous work, they would be creating a memorable game.

Keep in mind that nothing is official at the moment, but seeing Nam’s post, it could be the first hint of what the next Naughty Dog game could be, possibly exclusively on PlayStation 5, but no idea when it would be available.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
