Cyberpunk 2077 will “live up to what we promised” to gamers, says CD Projekt

Adam Kicinski confirms that “about half” of his team continues to work on the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 has not been the game that everyone expected before its premiere, of course. Following a troublesome release, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski pledged in January to improve Cyberpunk 2077 properly, delaying the release of free content, focusing on updates. Now, following the presentation of poor financial results for the first quarter of the year, President Adam Kicinski has reiterated the company’s commitment to making Cyberpunk 2077 a product that lives up to its promise.

We intend to live up to what we promised our players in January,” said Kicinski, in a statement shared by PC Gamer. “While we have already seen some major improvements, a large part of the team continues to work to ensure that Cyberpunk provides even better entertainment for gamers.” We recall that the Polish company published several important patches during the first months of the year, although their efforts were delayed by the computer attack they suffered in February.

As part of this commitment, Kicinski stated that “about half” of the Cyberpunk 2077 development team continues to work on the game, whether it be improving its current versions or those PS5 and Xbox Series versions on the way this year. Likewise, yesterday we informed you that CD Projekt will begin the development of several important projects in 2022. On this subject, the president of the company has avoided commenting since it does not want to “announce prematurely” these titles. “But yes, teams are preparing for unannounced future projects,” he confirmed to his investors.

The fact that Kicinski has avoided announcing the projects ahead of time also stems from criticism of the development of Cyberpunk 2077. And it is that, just a few months ago, CD Projekt promised to be more honest when promoting their games, and avoid making premature announcements about them. In recent times, we have also learned that Cyberpunk 2077 has a new director and that the class-action lawsuit against his company will be processed this month.
