In other words, we can say that Ubisoft‘s most popular Assassin’s Creed franchise is receiving a cookbook.
Assassin’s Creed has been on the run for almost fifteen years now, and its future is currently set in a live service title. The franchise is getting a cookbook, which is just as unusual as Capcom putting out Resident Evil perfumes. (It isn’t a joke: we discussed this over the weekend…)
The culinary codex originates from the pen (or the chef hat…?) of Thibaud Villanova. It contains “40 recipes across ten full menus,” and it will cost thirty dollars when it becomes available.
Let’s see the official description. The menus are “inspired by the times and places where the most famous Assassins lived and fought: you can relive the highlights of the Italian Renaissance, the French Revolution and even Victorian London. Follow Altaïr, Ezio, Arno, Evie, Jacob and all the Assassins of the Brotherhood while enjoying their most celebrated dishes: Masyaf Moutabel, Davenport Homestead Soup, Boston Apple Pie, Colonial Coleslaw, Meringues Mirabeau, Rooks’ Bread Pudding and many more.”
Some of the items feel like standard recipes, which means Ubisoft might not have made many unique products. The joke here is that Villanova’s book is an updated version of a text from a few years ago (in French only… so this is the first time we get an English version). However, Villanova has had a few interesting ideas: a Star Wars cantina cookbook, Disney recipes, more general collections of fantasy food under his Gastronogeek, a Dragon Ball recipe book, and even an Asterix menu.
Assassin’s Creed: The Culinary Codex will be published by Titan Books on December 14. It could be a good Christmas present for a hardcore Assassin’s Creed fan. It’s unlikely to be hit by the pandemic, so no delays seem likely here.
