The Forza Horizon 5 has plenty of fuel, and its success is not slowing down
The latest instalment of Playground Games’ critically acclaimed driving series has been a success even before its launch day. The game had around one million players before November 9, through the early access available through the game’s Premium Edition. Though the numbers quickly skyrocketed from the moment the game hit shops and Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service, reaching a whopping four and a half million players during its first day on the market, a reception that even Phil Spencer celebrated via his Twitter account.
We've invested for years in Xbox so more people can play. With 4.5+ million players so far across PC, cloud & console, Forza Horizon 5 shows that promise coming to life. Largest launch day for XGS game, peak concurrent 3x FH4 high. Thank you players & congrats to @WeArePlayground

But there is also another side of the coin.
More than a million bought it in advance at $ 99.99 (premium version) and $ 55 (standard version), the rest, almost 7 million in the Game Pass with 30 million subscribers, 23-30% of users are trying it and playing, you have to see if it stays in time or try something else. In other words, the numbers are not impressive; they are good numbers, yes.
It looks like Forza Horizon 5 wants to be the fastest, and not just on the tarmac, because just as Aaron Greenberg had begun to talk about six million players, Xbox Game Studios’ latest hit could already be celebrating passing the eight million player mark. The previous instalment in the franchise, Forza Horizon 4, took around two and a half months to surpass seven million players. It’s been a tremendous run for what has already become Xbox Game Studios’ biggest launch ever and the most complete game in the series.
