Microsoft confirms that this will be the last batch of Xbox backwards compatible games
The Xbox 20th anniversary celebration event served to look back on the history of a console that marked a before and after in the industry and for Microsoft to leave us with a few surprises. The biggest was undoubtedly the announcement that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is now available for free, but there was another one that is still important, although it made less noise.
We’re talking about the confirmation of the arrival of more than 70 new backwards compatible games to the ecosystem. A good handful of titles from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 will be playable on current consoles. However, Microsoft has confirmed that this list is the last batch to receive backwards compatibility due to limitations of various kinds.
Celebrate 20 years of Xbox with the titles that defined it.

“This final and definitive addition of over 70 titles with backwards compatibility has been made possible only thanks to the passion and feedback of the community,” the official website says. “While we remain focused on preserving and enhancing video games as art, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games from the past to the catalogue due to licensing, legal and technical constraints.”
It is important to note that video games within the programme feature the implementation of performance and image quality improvements, in addition to the well-known FPS Boost technology that is applied to specific titles. It’s a great way to look back on our Xbox journey.
