Another new feature for Guardians of the Galaxy is removing the FPS limitation on Xbox Series S, so the game will finally be able to take advantage of the console’s capabilities.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has proved to be a success: the relationship between Eidos Montreal and Marvel seems to be fruitful for both parties after a development that has been no short of jokes. However, the studio wants to give users the best possible experience, so it has released a new update focusing on graphics and performance on the most powerful platforms.
You can read the details of the patch on Reddit, but they mostly boil down to a few additions that are pretty appealing to Xbox Series and PS5 players. As such, Eidos Montreal confirms the arrival of Ray Tracing on next-gen consoles, while the FPS cap will also be removed for Xbox Series S. This means that players on Microsoft’s console will be able to squeeze up to 60 FPS out of the game. However, the developer warns that there may be areas where frame rates are more unstable.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy also doesn’t forget about PS4, as the latest update takes the opportunity to improve the game’s performance on the console and changes the sensitivity required to use the viewer with controllers, as some widely used controls have been causing issues. On the other hand, Eidos provides an escape route for players stuck due to bugs and introduces a subtle save to restart the desired chapter.
The patch also fixes some bugs encountered so far and ensures the overall stability of the game. Therefore, it is clear that Eidos Montreal intends to continue working on the title, although the excellent debut of Peter Quill and co. has the developer thinking about works such as a new Deux EX or Thief game. In the end, the studio has managed to regain the community’s trust in Marvel video games, giving us a rock-solid and action-packed story without losing the essence of Guardians of the Galaxy.
