Six Games Added To PlayStation Now In January

Sony Interactive Entertainment is launching new games for its streaming service, PlayStation Now, today.

The PlayStation Blog has the announcement of how PlayStation Now will be updated after PlayStation Plus (whose games have already been replaced for the January list, and we reported on them on Wednesday), so we’re heading into 2022 with no turning back. Six games are being added to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5-focused service. They are Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Fury Unleashed, Kerbal Space Program: Enhanced Edition, Mortal Kombat 11, Super Time Force Ultra and Unturned. These may be worth explaining in a few words if anyone is unfamiliar with any of them…

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is not the original JRPG from Square Enix for PlayStation 2, but a remaster released in 2017 (based on the International Zodiac Job System version initially released in Japan). Fury Unleashed is a fast-paced roguelike set in an ever-changing comic book setting, which can be played cooperatively. The Kerbal Space Program: Enhanced Edition (with a sequel in the works) is, as the name suggests, a game that tasks the player with successfully launching a space program.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest game in the franchise from NetherRealm Studios. The fighting game, as expected, has the exact violent style that made the first instalment such a hit three decades ago. Super Time Force Ultra is an action-packed platformer with a time-travel twist featuring nineteen unique characters. Unturned is an open-world sandbox survival game where you have to defend yourself and your group from zombies (up to twenty-four people can play together on dedicated servers).

So there’s genre variety in the PlayStation Now January line-up, with indie and AAA titles alike in the six-pack. OK, there are no racing games, but the quality of the streaming service is affected by your distance from the servers and the quality of your internet connection, so it’s somewhat understandable that Sony Interactive Entertainment hasn’t included such a title in this update.
