Nicolas Cage Considers Himself “Goth Enough” To Play Dracula

MOVIE NEWS – Nicolas Cage insists he is the right person for the role of Dracula in Renfield after declaring he is a ‘Goth’.

Over the years, Nicolas Cage has dived into several roles, from the face-swapping villain of Face/Off to the world-saving hero of Alcatraz. His roles are as interesting as his personality. But is he Gothic enough to play the famous Count Dracula? Cage himself insists that he is and is ready to take on the role of the Prince of Darkness. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he said that he thinks he is “goth enough” to take on the new role in Universal’s upcoming Renfield.

Cage says he lives a goth lifestyle off camera, so it won’t be too difficult to “sink his teeth” into the role.

Cage actually has a pet crow named Hoogan, who lives in a geodesic dome in the actor’s Las Vegas home. Cage says: “He has taken to calling me names… it’s comical, at least, it is to me. When I leave the room, he’ll say, ‘Bye,’ and then go, ‘Ass.’ Crows are very intelligent. And I like their appearance, the Edgar Allan Poe aspect. I like the Goth element. I am a Goth.”

It’s a side of Nicolas Cage’s personality that we’ve seen glimpses of not only in his acting but also in his off-camera lifestyle. Perhaps it also explains why the Oscar-winning actor was attracted to the role of Dracula in Renfield. He also said that watching James Wan’s horror film Malignant last year made playing a vampire and acting in horror films even more appealing to him, and it was from such films that he drew inspiration.

The upcoming film is expected to be set in the present day. It is not yet known how closely it will follow Bram Stoker’s 1897 horror novel Dracula. However, given Cage’s reputation as a bloodsucker, anything is possible. This is not the first time Nicolas Cage has been seen as a vampire. In the 1989 film Vampire’s Kiss, Cage played a man who was convinced he was a vampire. However, this time, he gets to play the role of a real vampire – the most famous of all, Dracula.

Do you think he’s gothic enough to take on such a famous role? What can Nicolas Cage bring to the table? We want to know what you think, so let us know your thoughts on the upcoming film and the casting!
