UFL, a game for PlayStation and Xbox reveals its first details and revealed some teams
UFL is the name of the new football game from Strikerz Inc, the studio set to bring an alternative to EA Sports and Konami’s FIFA and eFootball (PES) to the pitch. Following its announcement last year, the title is now revealed in its first gameplay trailer and also confirms some details regarding its scale and content. The participation of iconic football players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, De Bruyne and Lukaku, among others, is also in the spotlight.
UFL is very clear about the current market trends in the video game sector. For this reason, Strikerz has tried to get the support of FIFPRO – international football players’ organisation formed by 40 national associations and more than 65,000 associated players – to get the backing of football stars and at the same time apply quality of life details that users of the competition are accusing. For example, in UFL, players will not be handicapped in online matches.
Multiplayer will be one of the cornerstones of the experience, with online matches, transfer market, team management, challenges, missions, Team Pass and skill-based matchmaking; it won’t be random matchmaking. And yes, there will also be the equivalent of Ultimate Team, an “Ultimate” team building mode in which we will unlock player cards to trade, boost synergies and strategise that will pay off when we take to the pitch. The promise is that it will be balanced and truly value player skill. The database will be InStat, one of the most prestigious in football. The UFL is not short of ideas, but it remains to be seen how it will materialise.
All UFL partner clubs
- AS Monaco (France)
- Besiktas JK (Turkey)
- Borussia Mönchengladbach (Germany)
- Celtic (Scotland)
- Rangers (Scotland)
- Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine)
- Sporting CP (Portugal)
- West Ham United (England)
StrikerZ will gradually reveal more UFL member clubs, which will be fully branded in the game.
The game is being developed under the versatile graphics engine Unreal Engine, from Epic games, presumably in its UE4 version, for current and next-generation consoles: PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series. If all goes well, UFL will be released this year 2022 on the confirmed platforms as a free-to-play video game, i.e. a free-to-download video game with in-app purchases (microtransactions). More details will follow soon.
