Discord’s PlayStation Network Integration Launched

We can show on Discord what we are playing on our PlayStation consoles.

Discord has announced on its website that it is slowly making available to its users the ability to link their PlayStation Network accounts to it. If this happens, then (if you’re playing on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5) your console activity will show up on your Discord profile, so if you’re playing Horizon Forbidden West on PS5, for example, logging in on PC or mobile will show up on your profile that you’re continuing Aloy’s story.

The integration will also allow us to include our PlayStation Network ID on our profile, so our Discord friends can contact us on the Sony network to play together. In the blog post, Discord said, “We’re excited to continue our partnership with PlayStation and explore how we can collectively create great shared experiences for your friends and communities. Show us which PlayStation games you’re excited to share your activity status for, and tell us how you’re using this integration on Twitter or TikTok!”

Since early last May, we’ve been expecting this announcement when Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on their website that they had partnered with Discord. “Our teams are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together. From our first conversation with [Discord] co-founders Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy, I was inspired by their lifelong love for gaming and our teams’ shared passion for helping bring friends and communities together in new ways. Empowering players to create communities and enjoy shared gaming experiences is at the heart of what we do, so we are beyond excited to start this journey with one of the world’s most popular communication services,” Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s president and CEO wrote at the time.

At least they kept their word… and linking the two accounts is easy. Just click on Connections, then the PlayStation Network icon, log in, and then, you can toggle showing your PSN ID and the status from there.
