Ubisoft has spoken about the ship-battling game; Skull & Bones is promised for release in 2023 at the latest.
The case for Skull & Bones is one of the strangest in the industry. The Ubisoft Singapore-developed game is still without a release date and is stretching its arrival almost indefinitely. However, they shortened the release window a bit yesterday: we can reportedly expect it in 2022 or 2023.
They are happy with where the game is heading.
These statements were made as part of Ubisoft’s latest financial results report, where the company’s CEO Yves Guillemot shared more details on what we can expect from the game about ships and naval battles. “This is the longest development time ever, but we are pleased with the artistic direction and development of the game so far,” he said.
But what’s more important is the approach to the game:
“It’s a promising new IP that focuses on multiplayer,” Guillemot explained.
“So that goes hand in hand with our strategy to bring competitive multiplayer and co-operative play to a large open world with an immersive fantasy adventure.”
So without further news, Skull & Bones is expected to arrive in 2022 or 2023, although development has been in the crossfire of controversy for months as the French company’s subsidiary has been under investigation for harassment. After several rounds and rulings, the final verdict was delivered just a few weeks ago, concluding that the company had acted correctly in the face of the allegations.
