Another twist on Twisted Metal

They’re making a series from the Twisted Metal franchise, and Anthony Mackie will be one of the main attractions next to the fire-y clown.

After an unrealized and yet later officially endorsed film, the Twisted Metal series has finally found its place. The NBC streaming interface, Peacock, will broadcast this work based on one of the most significant PlayStation franchises, as confirmed by Deadline.

“Twisted Metal is one of PlayStation’s most popular franchises,” said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions. “It goes without saying how pleased we are to have an amazing creative team and colleagues working together who share an admiration for this outstanding fandom.”

The starting point for the series is that the protagonist, John Doe, wakes up one day without remembering his past. He enters the Twisted Metal race to transport a package through a desert full of bandits and other untold dangers.

Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Altered Carbon) will play in the series, who will play John Doe in a story of a calibre similar to the former titles. Still, the result has yet to be seen to see how similar the characters are.

The series will feature approximately 30-minute episodes and is expected to premiere sometime in 2023. The production is also scheduled to appear alongside the new video game. Still, details of the project have so far been revealed on rumours on the internet, as Sony’s management has decided, at least to this day, not to share information.
