After leaving BioWare, Casey Hudson founded his development company Humanoid last June.
BioWare has made a name for itself in the games industry with iconic franchises such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but the latter saga suffered a significant blow in December 2020 when Casey Hudson, the games’ lead developer, left. The creative nevertheless stayed in the industry, and after founding Humanoid Studios, he’s already given us a taste of what’s in the works at his office.
“Our current project is a multiplatform AAA title in a new sci-fi universe” – Humanoid
As noted by VGC, the developer’s website has been updated with a bit of information about what will be Humanoid’s first game: “Our current project is a multiplatform AAA title focused on a character-driven narrative in a new sci-fi universe.”
When the studio was founded, the website only stated that the team was “working on something special”, so while we don’t have as much information as we’d like, there’s no doubt that Humanoid is moving forward with their project. What’s more, the studio claims its mission is to “deliver magical, interactive storytelling by connecting talented creatives with powerful tools in a safe and supportive environment.”
So we’ll have to wait and see what the newly formed studio has in store for us, although Hudson has already proven time and time again under BioWare that he can make memorable games.
