The New Tomb Raider Is Coming: Here’s The First Important Information Revealed About The Game! [VIDEO]

The announcement about Tomb Raider was made at the recent State of Unreal 2022 conference, where the specifics of the graphics engine were revealed.

Tomb Raider is one of the most iconic franchises in video game history, and its 2013 reboot, developed by Crystal Dynamics, was celebrated by a significant group of gamers. Although this trilogy has now come to an end, the studio is in the process of developing a new title that would seek to combine the classic Lara Croft with the latest games, which has been a subject of debate as everyone has a different definition of the “perfect” Tomb Raider.

“The new Tomb Raider will be a high-quality, cinematic action-adventure experience” – Dallas Dickinson

Although Crystal Dynamics hasn’t given many hints about the project going forward, it has now announced that the game will use Unreal Engine 5 resources. So said Dallas Dickinson, the franchise’s general manager, at the State of Unreal 2022 conference, which Epic Games held to promote its graphics engine.

So far, that’s all we know about the next Tomb Raider game, as the director hasn’t given any previews of the visuals or gameplay coming from the offices of Crystal Dynamics. However, Dickinson promised a “high-quality, cinematic action-adventure experience” and said the development team is “pushing the boundaries of fidelity.”

As such, we look forward to Crystal Dynamics announcing the release date for the next Tomb Raider title. It’s also worth noting that at Epic Games’ conference, it was announced that Unreal Engine 5 is now available to all developers (in addition to the previously released Preview version). However, it’s worth noting that this graphics engine is also being used for other AAA games, such as the new The Witcher or the next project from studio Firesprite.
